The Stillness Within
Amandeep Rakhra · Aotearoa, New Zealand
This work reflects a state of stillness that is not empty, but complete, where nothing needs to be added, and nothing needs to be taken away.
The figure holds a moment where movement settles into awareness. The flute is present, yet the sound feels contained, not outward, but within.
There is no urgency here, no need to reach or perform. Everything exists in balance, form, gaze, and presence held together in quiet alignment.
This work is not about sound, but about the space it creates. A reminder that stillness is not the absence of movement, but the point where everything comes into place.
Context
About Krishna
Krishna is a central figure in Hinduism, understood as a guide, teacher, and embodiment of balance between action and stillness. His presence reflects both movement and calm, the ability to engage fully with life while remaining inwardly undisturbed.
The Murli (flute) is often seen as a symbol of connection and harmony, representing a subtle alignment between the self and the greater whole.
In this work, that symbolism turns inward, where the sound is not external but held within stillness itself.
